When you’re a three-sport star and carry a 3.6 GPA at a demanding academic school like Sayre, it helps to have exceptional organizational skills.

When you’re a three-sport star and carry a 3.6 GPA at a demanding academic school like Sayre, it helps to have exceptional organizational skills.

Such is the case for Maggie Little, a 17-year-old senior who is a National Honor Society member and stars for the soccer, basketball and lacrosse teams.

Juggling school assignments and athletics with extracurricular activities like the addiction awareness and crisis relief clubs could be challenging.

But not for a super organizer like Maggie. She organizes everything in her room from her books to her shoes.

“She’s always been that way,” said her mother Lisa. “She has her clothes color coordinated and her shoes arranged by style.”

Added Maggie: “I used to have all my books alphabetized but now I have hardbacks on one row and paperbacks on another and they’re arranged by height. It just helps me find things when I’m in a hurry.”

And she’s always on the move… usually at warp speed, which is her greatest asset as an athlete. Good thing because she doesn’t overwhelm opponents with her size. At 5-foot-2, 110 pounds, she’s often the smallest person on the field or court.

No matter, in soccer, she helped the Spartans to one of their best seasons in school history. Sayre posted an 18-3 record this fall with Maggie, a co-captain, scoring 14 goals and adding four assists as an attacking midfielder.

A starter since her freshman year, she was the team’s best defender as a sophomore and last season was team MVP, first team All District, and a second-team All-City selection.

A guard in basketball, Maggie helped Sayre win the All A Regional title two years ago, and made the All A Region team last season.

But her No. 1 sport is lacrosse, which is almost her birthright. Her father Rich is the Sayre Athletic Director who started the lacrosse program and coached the sport for years before coming to Sayre.

“I feel like I had a lacrosse stick in my hands since birth and there was probably one in my crib,” Maggie said with a laugh.

The team’s leading scorer, Maggie is a three-time All-City and two-time All- State selection and a two-time team MVP.

Last season, she scored her 100th career goal, ending her junior campaign with 107 career goals. She also led the state in ground balls, an important statistic in regaining possession for one’s team.

“She’s the fastest little thing you’ve seen and she’s very aggressive,” her dad said. “She has great field awareness, a high lacrosse IQ, and a team-first attitude.

“She may be only a buck 10, but she’s a tough little athlete with a huge heart.”
