Arc of Kentucky’s Annual Conference Set for Feb. 21 & 22 in Louisville

The Arc of Kentucky’s Annual Conference Best Practices for People with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, Feb. 21-22, at the Crown Plaza Louisville Airport Hotel at 830 Phillips Lane.

The title of this year’s conference is “Empowering a Pathway to Success” and features such topics as self-determination, choice, education, health & safety, employment/transition, inclusion and community advocacy.

The keynote speaker on Thursday, Feb. 21 is Kim Musheno, the vice president of public policy for the Autism Society. Kim is also the Chair of the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities. Thursday also features an open forum for the Kentucky State Advisory for Exceptional Children and a Family Fun Night.

On Friday, motivational speaker Mark J. Hublar will make the keynote address, and both days will feature an Exhibit Information Extravaganza and Silent Auction.

Continuing Education Units are available for social workers and certified rehabilitation counselors.

Parents in the Louisville and Bowling Green areas can apply through the Jefferson County Resource Center for scholarships.

The Arc of Kentucky is sponsoring the conference in collaboration with Jefferson and Simpson County Parent Resource Centers, the Kentucky Department of Education and the Autism Society of the Bluegrass.
