Lexington Christian Academy Will Launch Innovative 6th Grade Academy

One of the most inspired initiatives in the storied history of Lexington Christian Academy will come to fruition on Thursday, Aug. 9 at 6:30 p.m. with the launch of the 6th Grade Academy. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at LCA’s Rose Campus at 450 West Reynolds Road.

“We are raising the bar for educating our students with unique, experiential learning and teaching styles, with a strong focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) courses and electives,” said Mark D. Sisk, LCA’s Head of School.

“We recognize that the sixth grade is a pivotal year in the educational journey of our students. To that end, the LCA 6th Grade Academy is uniquely designed to engage students in the learning process.”

The 6th Grade Academy is a self-contained learning environment where students receive project-based learning experiences supported by technology, and by utilizing highly effective, tailored teaching methods enabling students to maximize their learning potential.

Through the 6th Grade Academy, students will be empowered by their teachers to grow and develop important 21st-century skills such as critical-thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity that will prepare them for an ever-changing, highly adaptive world.

“Our new Academy provides a unique approach to educating kids (who are) quickly maturing beyond elementary but not fully ready yet for junior high,” said James Jaeger, LCA’s 6th Grade Academy Director. “This new environment will prove to be fun yet challenging for them.”

Dynamic resources such as Makerspaces and STEAM labs will engage the imagination of students, prompting innovative thinking and empowering them to produce and deliver individualized work in a highly collaborative environment.

Lexington Christian Academy is a quarter-century old private, non-denominational Christian school accredited by AdvancED.

From a small group of committed parents holding classes in local churches, LCA has grown to a nationally-acclaimed learning institution of nearly 1,500 students in grades preschool through 12 located on a 75-acre campus with state-of-the-art facilities in the heart of Lexington. Academically, LCA students consistently place at or near the top of all schools in Kentucky, as evidenced by standardized test scores, scholarships and post-graduate accomplishments. Extra-curricular activities are wide-ranging and continually reaching new levels of success, particularly in athletics and fine arts.
