June Book Review: “Jasper and the Riddle of Riley’s Mine”

Jasper Book“Jasper and the Riddle of Riley’s Mine” by Caroline Starr Rose

Review by Megan Cox

“Breaking news: gold, gold, and more gold! Come one, come all, along the Klondike Trail.
This is exactly what two brothers, Melvin and Jasper, are planning to do, without their father. The boys’ father became a drunk when their mother passed away and the boys have been planning this for months.

But when Mel runs away with everything but some clothes, their mother’s washboard and a watch, it is up to Jasper to find the gold.

This book is a great book. I liked how it was not easy for Mel and Jasper to go on the journey. To read this book, you probably need to be in at least the fourth grade unless you are an accelerated reader.”
