TCA Prepares Students
to Defend Their Faith

Nearly every Wednesday in the fall, seniors at Trinity Christian Academy in Lexington enjoy brown bag lunch sessions with college representatives.
Along with the visits from the University of Kentucky, Centre College, Transylvania and other Kentucky schools, Grove City (Pennsylvania) and Cedarville (Ohio) are among the visitors.
These are small Christian colleges, which makes sense because Trinity is Central Kentucky’s oldest Classical Christian school.
The Trinity curriculum is academically rigorous, well-balanced and holds the Bible as the foundation of truth.
The school is also small with a low student-to-teacher ratio -- the senior class has 22 students. So, small Christian colleges are a good fit for many Trinity graduates.
But not all. Trinity’s curriculum is also Classical, which incorporates many of the great works of western civilization.
This helps students grasp the foundation of American culture and prepares them to represent a Christian worldview as they venture out in the culture.
Trinity prepares students for this through its Apologetics class, and its thesis programs in which juniors and seniors go through a process similar to that of a doctoral candidate.
Trinity upperclassmen write lengthy papers on a topic of their choosing.
As 11th-graders, they defend their ideas before a panel of peers. As seniors, they do the same before a panel of experts from the community.
“We believe that all professions are callings,” said guidance counselor Abby Cunningham.
“Whether it’s medicine or missionary work, our students are engaging the culture from a Christian worldview.
“And because of our program, our students know how to defend their faith.”
