“Real Mom Recipes” Contest Winner: Crescent Roll Pizza by Dana McReynolds

Our first “Real Mom Recipes” contest was a delicious treat for our judging panel. The winner was Dana McReynolds and her “Crescent Roll Pizza.”

Dana won a prize package from Good Foods Coop valued at more than $100.

From Dana:

My kids love this and it’s so easy to prepare. My 8-year-old can do the whole thing. Also, the possibilities are endless with different meats and veggies. It can be a different dish each time. I also like to take this meal to new moms or other families that can use a meal. They almost always ask for the recipe.”

Judge’s comment:

My family devoured this meal, it was definitely kid-friendly! I used shredded spinach as our veggie and cut down on the cheese to make it a bit lighter. The chef was spot-on with how customizable it is. My husband was excited to suggest different vegetables to incorporate next time I make this, like diced peppers or red onion. I can definitely see making this as a potluck dish or for a friend in need of a hot meal.”

1 lb. ground beef
1 sm. jar pizza sauce
1 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
2 tubes Pillsbury crescent rolls
-Add any kind of meat,
pepperoni, etc. (Whatever you
like on a pizza)
-Also veggies work great and
the kids don’t even notice them
under the crescent roll topping!
I like to use banana peppers,
black olives or spinach.

-Brown ground beef; drain.
-Add pizza sauce.
-Press 1 tube of crescent rolls in
bottom of 9×13 pan.
-Layer beef and sauce mixture, then
both cheeses (and veggies) and place second tube of rolls on top.
-Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until light brown on top.
