Writing Contest: If I Had a Billion Dollar– School Prize Boosted to $500

The 13th Annual Lexington Family Magazine Writing Contest is looking to be the most exciting one yet.

Lexington Family is partnering with the Lexington Public Library to offer fun events, cool prizes for kids and $500 to the school with the highest percentage of participation.

We are seeking entries from students in Grades K-5 to answer the prompt, “If I Had a Billion Dollars …”

Get creative and tell us what you would do with that much money in your pocket.

Need help with your story? Come to our Write-a-Thon events at Lexington Public Library branches.

You can get feedback on your story, turn in your entry and you will be entered for prizes just for attending.

Entries will be judged in three grade categories: K-1, 2-3 and 4-5. Stories are limited to 100 words for grades K-1, 150 words for grades 2-3 and 200 words for grades 4-5.

One boy and one girl winner from each category will be chosen, along with honorable mentions.

Grand prizes include Gabriela, the 2017 American Girl Doll of the Year, model horses from Breyerfest, a Pulse Performance Scooter, LEGO sets, Star Wars and Descendants book sets and more.

The school with the highest percentage of participation will receive a cash prize of $500.

(This prize is available to schools with 50 students or more in grades K-5 and is not open to home schools.)

The deadline for entries is Friday, March 24.

Winners will be announced at our annual Summer Camp & Activities Fair on Saturday, April 15 at Lexington Christian Academy. The Fair is free and open to all.
