Moms Find Peace of Mind, Relaxation at Baby Belly Spa
Baby Belly Spa in Lexington is a mom’s one-stop-shop for prenatal massage, elective ultrasounds and maternity shopping.
Crystal Nichols opened Baby Belly Spa in November of 2008 after her own experience with prenatal massage.
“I loved getting massages while I was pregnant with my son and began doing research on prenatal massage when I had drastically different experiences with each massage, even though I was going to the same place, just different therapists,” she said.
Nichols wanted her spa to offer relief to pregnant women and allow them to feel safe with the techniques and products being used. While they accept clients who are not currently pregnant, all the therapists have extra training and certifications for prenatal massage.
Moms can also enjoy natural-nail services or belly-casting through Baby Belly. All products used in the spa are natural and free of parabens and phthalates.
The spa also gives parents a chance to share the sonogram experience with friends and families. The ultrasound rooms are large so parents can invite more people than a doctor’s office might allow.
Baby Belly offers 2, 3 and 4D ultrasounds by ARDMS-registered sonographers with OB experience. Nichols feels that ultrasounds can help families connect with their baby in a unique way.
“The imaging is a great way to build the bond between baby and mother and family,” Nichols said.“I wanted to create a comfortable yet safe setting for families to see their new addition.”
Prices for ultrasounds start at $99, and spa services range from $39-$79. Spa packages are available starting at $129. Beyond the spa and sonograms, moms can shop for maternity items and gifts in the Baby Belly boutique.
With the Baby Belly “Storkredit” system, every $50 spent gives moms $25 in credit to be put toward their next service of $50 or more.
Whatever service is chosen, Nichols simply wants moms to rest easy when they visit Baby Belly Spa.
“They can now enjoy the journey to motherhood without the added stress of worrying about the safety of techniques or products used during elective ultrasounds or spa services,” she said.“We have done all of that for them, so they can relax and enjoy!”
